Julia's story....
Julia (aka Dr Julia Helene Ibbotson) started writing at the age of 10, stories about farms, horses and dogs. However, sensing that there was probably little possibility of making a living out of it, made her career in education instead. She has been, for many years, a teacher of English, and is now a researcher/senior lecturer/ tutor in the School of Education at a UK university. You'll find a number of her academic educational writings on the web. She also runs an editorial consultancy to help students and other writers to edit and polish up their work for submission and publication, including those for whom English is not their first language. Her work is based on many years' experience and is widely recommended. She has also written and published academically for a number of years....
Then a few years ago after experiencing a eureka moment, she decided to return to creative writing, first publishing a gentle account of the trials and tribulations of moving to the heart of the countryside and renovating a Victorian rectory. Woven into her book is the evidence of her love of cooking for the family - what greater delight can you have than cooking for people you love, and sitting around the table together to share scrumptious food? She shares favourite and historic recipes with her readers in her book, now available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble, as a paperback or ebook, and at Waterstones bookstores in the UK. It's entitled The Old Rectory: escape to a country kitchen. Julia hopes that her readers too will make the kitchen and dining room the heartbeat of the family. Recent news is that The Old Rectory has been awarded Winner in the biography/autobiography category at the London Book Festival and also received an Honorable Mention in the USA's New England Book Festival and NOW in the Paris Book Festival 2013!
